How to promote content type site?

Hi,

I currently have a products site; which is a lot easier to promote than a content site. With a product site I can promote through comparison websites, affiliate programs, adwords, google base, etc...

However, what are some of the methods that I can use to promote a content type site?

Get as many on topic inbound links as possible. Go after links from sites that are related to your topic, but not exactly in competition. Content sites can work well when it comes to gaining inbound links. If the content is good and offers somethign unique then people wil be willing to link to it on its own merit.
