THIS WILL BE INTERESTING TO WATCH.

Ahhh, the LowBall Theory, which is what usually happens when you leave the dealer without buying the wheels, is an exact opposite to what the article says. "Buy Now" at NNN $$$ was always a "loss leader" in Auto industry, a gimmick, if you will.

I spent 6 years on the Floor(GM Included) and 3 in F&I box before moving on to be a Programmer, trust me, the culture is still there... and most of Sales Staff are Illiterate when it comes to Computers, Still.

It was almost a Revolt from Exp. Sales Force when CarFax and Dealer Invoices showed up on the Web; give it to the new guy type of thing...

Most car salespeople are illiterate when it comes to CARS even. I am a bit of a car geek myself and I am always amazed when a salesperson does not seem to know anything about the cars that they are selling - except when they are reading the brochure to me.

This is not really anything to be worked up about - the dealers have been selling online for years. Now GM is just sticking their nose in. The only real effect will be that dealers that had no online presence now will. GM can't bypass them, where would the customer get his car? As for the dealers that had an online presence already it will be business as usual.

For the record, I bought my last two trucks by calling the local dealer and saying "give me the internet guy" and got the online deal without going online.
