Initial traffic projects to base ad sales

New website with no historical data that need projections

I am about to launch a new site and need to project traffic. Being our ads are going to have a cpm price, I need to project traffic with a conservative estimate. Before I was able to research historical data and combine that with new endeavors on the promotion end to assume these projections.

Now I am working a brand new site, and the client does not want to use any PPC ads to get this traffic. Anyone have any resources or experience launching this kind of project?

Thats a tall order and really not realistic as there are so many factors that it is almost impossible to answer.

I would assume the best way to figure it is go to Google [adwords.google.com...] do a traffic search for keywords you want to show for, use a % that will click on your site using a total from the traffic keywords, and then figure how long it will take you to get the site to the front page.

Consertive estmate depending on the nitch is a year to make the 1st page assuming you do everthing right.

Thanks for the heads up. I am going to check out that link and see where it gets me. If I can find a realistic number that is still conservative, I may be able to adjust it from there.

Getting to page 1 would be great, but I am guessing we will find pretty good traffic based on the niche and the domain name. I am open for any suggestions that could help, thanks bwnbwn.
