I've been shipping my products to Canada for over a year. Around 20% of my orders go there. I don't have a problem with my customers paying taxes and brokerage fees, but I am sure they would be more happy if I could lower them. So far I've been using UPS website to ship orders to Canada. Is there any better way? I still want to use UPS, but I'd like to lower brokerage fees at least. Also, is it truth that they don't have to pay customs on computers? If yes, does anyone know tariff code I should use for PC, monitor?

It has always been MUCH cheaper for me to ship USPS than UPS to Canada if you just need basic service. You'd have to price it out if you need tracking, confirmation, insurance, etc.

Drop UPS and use FedEx! FedEx is now all inclusive on exports to Canada, it's added into the cost of shipping.

UPS sucks bad, I live in Canada and receive many shipments from the US each year. UPS sucks, never use them. I've avoided companies because they only ship UPS.

USPS is generally good for small packages. FedEx is OK too IMHO.

Purolator is ok too, I agree that UPS is not the best decision you can make about your shipping needs.

I stopped using fedex, when once they came back to me with the bill for customs and taxes, because buyer did not pay it. In their policy, if it happens, they go after shipper. They do not collect it on delivery like UPS does.

UPS will charge the duty and taxes to you as well. I learned the hard way.

gpilling is correct both will collect unpaid duties the only way to avoid the dutiesfrom either carrier UDS or FedEx is to ship express.

I only use USPS to avoid the extra cost assoicaed with Express shipping and USPS collects the duties and taxes on delivery so I haven't had a problem in years since the switch.

Exactly, Express shipments include brokerage. UPS is a Customs broker themsleves and they include the service in Express and Expedited shipments.
