Ok, so my website marketing plan is starting to take shape, and now im thinking about affiliate sales. Maybe Amazon, but also considering a few others. Does anyone run multiple affiliate sales programs on their site? I have one company that I think that sells items which I think would get some sales from my website, but the directions they give for joining their affiliate program seem strange. They tell me to sign up on their website, which I have, but then give my users my username & password to login to their website. What the heck? The users could then jack up my account settings, see my personal info, etc. Something doesnt seem right. Im new to using affiliate sales programs, but from what ive read so far, its basically using an advertisement on your website, with a special link to the other party's website. the special link has key in the url to ensure you get credit for any sales that might occur from the user.

comments please, thanks in advance

As this is the Ecommerce Forum (direct sales to customers), your question would be a better fit in the Advertising & Affiliate Program forum:
[webmasterworld.com...]

But yes, affiliate marketing on the web is essentially advertising other people's websites, brands, products, etc and making commissions based on the terms of the program.
