"Build Your Own Product" Capability for E-Commerce Store

Need capability for customers to build their own product online

Does anyone know how I can set my e-commerce store up to give customers the option to "build their own" product from a list of choices. After they select their choices, a page will be returned with their choices, a picture of their customized product (if available) and what the price would be for that product. I'm looking for either a software to use or even an e-commerce vendor that might provide that type of functionality.

When you get into something very specific like this you usually are going to have to custom write it yourself. OScommerce has some "options" add ins that may do sort of what you are talking about.. allows you to add option boxes/drop downs to products.

We did something similar a guided buying system for some products. We had to custom code the whole lot I'm afraid, I haven't seen any off the shelf solution that can do this type of thing.
