Putting backlinks on flickr

Hey guys. This is my first post.

Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong forum; I was actually looking for a forum titled "SEO" or something, but this was the closest thing that I could find. Is there a better spot to post this?

Anyways, I just had a quick question: Is there any way to post links on flickr (dot com) and actually have them be DO FOLLOW?

I bought this expensive SEO guide type deal, and it said that fickr is a great place to put your (back) links, and that it had "do follow" enabled. But when I check any and ALL outbound links on flickr, including my own, they are all "DO NOT FOLLOW".

Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello mattb348 and welcome,

there was a discussion here [webmasterworld.com...] a while ago about social bookmarking and I think it should answer some of your questions. Only some social bookmarking websites provide "do follow" links.

Here is part of my post from previous discussion:

I think the only way you can benefit in terms of Google ranking is when your website is submitted to "follow" bookmarking website. From what I know Stumbleupon is "no follow". Google won't index backlink to your website. There is a number social websites that will give you backlink. e.g. Spurl, Diigo, Ask, Connectedy, A1-Webmarks, Blinklist, Mister-Wong, Bibsonomy,Linkagogo, BuddyMarks, MyLinkVault,Jumptags,Oyax,Dizzed,Bookmarktracker,Furl,Backflip,myVmarks ,Healthranker.

How old is the guide? Flickr used to be do-follow at one point.

I just logged into Flickr and you are correct it appears that external links are all no-follow now. I'm not sure when that change happened, but must have been within the past six months.
