Trying to find the right shopping cart for the job

Hi all,

I am looking for a php based shopping cart. preferably open source (right now I'm looking at osCommerce and ZenCart), but if there is a commercial app that will fit my needs that is fine too.

I need the following features:

-affiliate program - 2-tier
-coupons
-gift certificates
-autoresponder system
-email broadcasts (ability to email to custom lists - ie mail all customers who have product A but not product B)
-tracking support (split testing etc track clicks, leads, sales)
-quickbooks support
-integration with phpBB forum.
-Support for multiple sites/front ends...

Can anyone give me any recomendations for a good cart for this job. I know it is a pretty big list of needs...

If a cart with these tools isn't available, then I want to pick the cart that is the best starting place for addon scripts and custowization....

osCommerce and Zen cart are pretty good to get you going. For commercial apps I've used X-Cart and have had good luck with it and some folks here have use the LiteCommerce version (same folks that produce X-Cart). I don't believe you'll find a cart right out of the box with all of the items you're looking for but I do think each of the carts mentioned have a wide selection of mods available that should get you pretty close. you have asked for quite a few options and in my opinion, you can meet many of them on b2bparadise. To begin with you can have a customized shopping cart with flexible options as you desire for.You can ask for specific options such as addon scripts as and when you require. And as far as technical support is concerned,its quite good.Check it out yourself.

Unfortunatly we are looking for a self hosted solution. So b2bparadise won't work for us.

Right now it is looking like Zen cart will be the one we use (or maybe X-cart)

Well, I just found one that is PERL-based that might do everything you are looking for. It is not exactly "open source", but if you buy the software, you have access to all the source code and can do to it whatever you want.

I just recently discovered it and am considering it rather seriously. I'm a "PHP-guy" myself (big time), but PERL doesn't seem too scary to me.

The cart's features look quite comprehensive if you really dig in and spend an hour or two really looking at everything they offer. Check out he admin demo. The front-end site is totally customizable too, which is a big plus for us. It's apparenly all PERL/MySQL based, but the product has its own proprietary "tag" system that can be used as well.

I read about 50 or so threads in the support forum, and the forum seemed pretty well-run.

P.S. I finally realized that you can download the documentation for the "Heavy Metal" shopping cart product if you create an account on the make-a-store.com site. I haven't even cracked open the docs yet though. Good Luck!

osCommerce it is! I would go for it any day becuase of the h-u-g-e developer base they have built up in their forums.

You might want to try out this souped up version of oscommerce. It has many of the features you were requesting.
