Looking for a Cart Recommendation

We need a hosted shopping cart that can generate real-time shipping quotes for heavy shipments that get split into multiple cartons.

It's normally just a simple configuration that lets you define the maximum packing weight per carton. So, if the total order weight exceeds the max carton weight, it just splits the order into multiple cases when it submits the info to UPS, FedEx, etc.

We've spent MANY hours looking at carts and have only found two hosted carts that have this feature... CoreCommerce and 3dcart.

Unfortunately, they seem to be lacking some of the other, less-important features we're looking for.

If anyone knows of or uses a hosted cart that has the feature, your recommendation would be well appreciated.

PDGsoft can do that supposedly, not sure about any others.

You can try fastcommerce with lots of good features.

You can seek a cart that can be modified. Then, if you don't have the skills, hire a programmer to customize it for your needs.

I always end up modifying our program for issues like this.

After all the research, we've decided to go with Core Commerce. They have graciously agreed to work some of our suggestions into their development cycle, which is ideal for us.

We have a solution that was customized, but have had too many problems with upgrades, etc. That's why we were looking for a hosted solution where all of those things are their responsibility instead of ours.
