Dear all,

My credit rating is not what it should be. So, I cannot get a credit card.
But I still want to buy things on online stores (using a credit card). Can
anyone recommend a prepaid visa/mastercard? Now one thing that I should
stress - I am in UK. Surfing the web I see that so many are available in
the USA - but cannot find any available in the UK. The visa/mastercard - I
dont really care how it is loaded. E-gold is definitely an option - but I
would be happy with any other options (aside from credit card loading of
course - I dont have a credit card!).

Now an important point: If you have any financial intertwine with a
prepaid card company - dont reply! Would be very interested to hear
from people that have actually used prepaid cards successfully. There are
so many con artists in this market - I really want to get some good
advice. Would be so, so grateful.

Replies by sticky please - the moderators probably would not appreciate company names being mentioned here in the forum.

If you sign up for Pay Pal you can get a visa ATM card. That will work. I don't know if they offer that in the UK. Also American Express makes a gift card. In the US all you need is a bank account and they give you a visa ATM card.

both these things are for USA only. I think prepaid cards are so common in USA - but I am really struggling in the UK.

The PayPal Debit Card (a MasterCard Debit card) is currently only available for US Premier and Business accounts.
