One of the main reasons I've stuck with Paypal is extremely convenient multi-label printing option it offers.

For those of you who don't use Paypal and charge credit cards through your bank, how do you create labels easily?

For USPS shipments, check out DAZzle software at Endicia.com. For UPS, you can request their free WorldShip software from an account rep.

In either case, the label can be printed with a Zebra label printer, available for purchase from either shipper, or pre-owned units are listed on eBay.

stamps.com is nice. I use label sheets I buy for printing USPS labels and that gives you a smaller one you can put on a hard copy of the order, if you want. But lots of people just print out on a plain sheet and tape it to the box. I've gotten plenty like that.

You can also use the USPS website to print labels, but I think it is much clumsier.

You can 'stack' shipments in USPS Click-N-Ship and batch print. They also have 'upgraded' account options, but haven't used them in a long time. They were always absolutely awful. Click-N-Ship rocks. Bang, bang, bang. You can really pound them out. We don't even stack orders; just go one off. Very fast once you know your way around.

Endicia and Dazzle are okay. Not a big fan, but do enough volume, and you can get some decent discounts on shipping cost. Endicia is used by a lot of 'stealth shippers' that hide how much money they are cheating their customers out of.

UPS account and WorldShip software is excellent. First Rate. We got screwed bad on the 9.0 update CD. Burned a whole day on that and half the night handling stacked up business. 10.0 CD went fine. Problem with UPS is you have to have enough business to get a personal rep to get a special deal on packages around 4 pounds and down. Only way to go if shipping weight. USPS doesn't even try to compete.

USPS Flat Rate boxes really cut into our UPS shipments. USPS Flat Rate can't be beat. That's why we only use UPS for anything heavier, which is, for the most part, a small part of our businesses. So, it wasn't worth making a deal using UPS exclusively. Some sites, where we know that Flat Rate is the biggest box going out, we make a big deal about using USPS Priority Mail exclusively. They are so fast it is a big selling point. Other sites, we promote USPS Priority Mail, but acknowledge that some percentage of shipments will be a much better value UPS and our policy is to ship best value. Also a plus because we ship 'actual cost' shipping on all websites.

When we were starting out, we printed USPS labels on plain paper and taped, but labels are a lot more professional looking. Recent USPS update now allows two label per sheet printing. UPS provides two per sheet and four per sheet labels free. (Don't be a scumbag and use UPS label supplies on your USPS packages. The same sort of people that use free USPS boxes and use them on bunches of their UPS shipments. $#&@%#^)

You've got all kinds of options. Just depends on how many packages, average monthly dollar volume, et cetera.
