Has anyone implemented this?

With the economy being the way that it is, I'm thinking that implementing some sort of customer appreciation (rewards) program might be a good idea to encourage repeat sales on our websites.

Has anyone here done this and how has it worked for you?

How about a co-branded credit card? You could even go further and get a rewards co-branded credit card. For every 10,000 points the customer would be eligible to receive a full page glossy print catalog with their favorite fashions.

Success would depend upon the type of product. Example - car sales would be a long-term investment if there was to be any loyalty at all. Small consumable widgets (like vitamins and toiletries) might benefit from this approach.

I went ahead with implementing this.

For our clothing website, it seems to be performing well. I have noticed more and more brick and mortar retailers using these same methods and figured that it would transfer well to the internet crowd as well.

I'll let this run for awhile and *hopefully* roll it out onto our other e-commerce websites as well, assuming it generates the buzz and customer retention/loyalty that we're looking for.
