I've a commercial web site and I'm wondering on how to implement the credit card on line payment.
Have I to refer to a SSL server? If yes, how?
Thanks for your feedback :)

You do not necessarily have to have an SSL. A lot of payment gateways will provide their own secure website so you can accept credit cards. But if you have a merchant account with a gateway that has an API, you can accept & process the CCs on your secure website.
The benefit to this is that it will be seemless to the consumer.
You can also use a Shared SSL, but this can pose some security risks as well.
For the merchant account - it depends on where you are located.

Thanks for the answer Corey.
I think that in my situation, the best solution would be to address to some payment gateway. Could you give me some names trough the sticky mail?
