some questions about selling online

please forgive the title --- its a typo, i know spellings of Selling :)

i want to setup a shop for selling jockey underwears for men at the moment. could add some for women also, but later.

my business model is as follows

i am in india and here the jockey underwear for men costs me $ 3 while i can sell it online for $ 7

now the thing is as follows

i want to sell a package of 5 minimum so that i could make nearly $ 15 per order.

and shipping costs are really higher. i thin i should charge them seperately for shipping type they choose, like if they need express shipping, it will cost around $ 7 and slow shipping via mail will cost $ 3

I am totally new to selling online, so i need advice from experts in the field if they find the business model intresting.

And i welcome the thoughts of others about some good margin business i can start on internet.

Yea that is how it should be handled, I believe.

You should allow people to choose which ever transporting method they want to receive it with, as it can make a difference in the cost too. Some people might not want it that quick, but want to save some money.

You may find that your sale increase if you add say two dollars cost to a purchase price and reduce teh shipping cost by $2.

Worth looking at.

I would offer the $3 and $7 method to my customers. If you choose one or the other 50% of your buyers may go elsewhere. I find offering choice a successful component of our business model.

Infact, for me shipping is a big issue.

but recently i thought that everyone is selling it for $ 7, so maybe people won't be much intrested in buying it from me.

And am also amazed that men would be intrested in buying underwears online.

People could be intrested in buying sexy lingerie for women and thats a high margin area, but i don't want to get into measuring the cup sizes for women :)

I think its been said taht Lingerie has a low conversation rate. So it may be an area you'd like to steer clear of.
