Hi, my .com site selling widgets is now getting good traffic in the US and I want to replicate this in the UK - where I am based btw.

I must use a new site with a co.uk name for my software to work.

I want to use the same .com URL by registering a .co.uk in the same name so for bestwidget.com I will create bestwidget.co.uk

So I assume I cannot copy the .com site's content as that would create duplicated content.

Am I best just setting up the co.uk site and adding a link from the .com using my new sites keywords.

Are there any better ways?

Better ways to achieve what?

If you require a .co.uk domain, then your approach is sensible, but as you say, duplicate content will be an issue, probably a big one, if both sites are dealing with identical widgets.

Are you sure you require the .co.uk? If you really do, could that just be used a s satellite for the software purposes only, with the .com serving all customers? That way, it could <noindex> and not be a problem at all.

Where is the site currently hosted?
