Modifying OSCommerce

Can I add affiliate sales features onto osc

hey guys,

I havent used OSC before. Is there any way (or mods available,perhaps) by which oscommerce can be made into a site where users can contribute music, gets paid 80% of the cumulative sales value at the end of the month if it's above a threshold. (All payments made via paypal)
Basically, an affiliate sales system for osc.. I have no idea about how to create it..
Can someone provide me with details or alternatives to osc to build such a site?

That's not going to be something that is easily done with osCommerce or any other off-the-shelf product. It's more of a custom application. I'd suggest you visit the discussion forums for the major OTS carts and talk with their communities about your idea.

I wonder if this is something that would be better done by starting with a CMS + an ecommerce add-on - not something I know anything about, just a thought prompted by this review on slashdot [books.slashdot.org] of a book about Drupal and the e-Commerce module.

I think it would require a lot of work to add this sort of functionality to oscommerce.
