I have a client interested in adding some "pay for" documents to their fairly popular (pr7) website, in addition to the free info provided. Something fairly automated, downloaded. Probably pdf, although adobe ebook would be another possiblity.

Anyone have experience with this? Is there a shopping cart like service for ebooks or pdfs that is easy to use? Or a download, software sales type thing that could be adapted?

Not looking for specific products (although you could sticky me if you know of something that sounds appropriate), but suggestions on the direction of my inquiry.

Also, do people buy documents online?
Thanks..

I've bought perhaps two dozen documents online, mostly related to webmastering. I've also downloaded free texts from the Gutenberg project.

Thanks for the input. You didn't happen to notice an effective delivery method did you?

Downloaded from web immediately after shopping cart accepted credit card, with another link in email so I could grab it later.

Didn't like ebooks that require an additional key. When I buy it, I want it.

ALs, had ebook that was dependent upon system config and key, and will never do this again. Every time I changed systems (which I do occasionally) it broke and I had to get new key, until I jsust didn't care anymore.

SmallTime,

There is a small successful company doing ebooks and print on demand. They show it can be done and help with the promotion. Check your StickMail for the URL.
