Hello!

Does anyone know or know where I can find estimates about the click-through rates of price comparison sites. We're planning to include a price comparison feature in a new website and, assuming that our site receives traffic (we think the its other features will be compelling & unique), we would like to estimate what percent of that traffic we can expect to actually click through? I do understand that click-through rates & cost per click vary by product category as well as site quality etc.

TIA

anyone?

Or is this the wrong forum...should I re-post this in Home / Forums Index / The Webmaster World / Website Analytics - Tracking and Logging?

I think the problem is how can someone give you a click through rate as there are a kizillion things that effect it.

Question really can't be answered with any correctness anywere but maybe someone can give you their stats that may vary qreatly with what you might get.

I myself don't use them and won't use them due to the naturre of the beast.

@bwnbwn - thanks for your quick reply. Yep, I do understand that click-through rates vary a lot, but I'm hoping someone running a site that offers a price-comparison feature (e.g. based on the API provided by shopzilla or shopping.com etc) would be willing to share their average click-through rate. I also know that my mileage will vary...but there;s no harm asking; some data is better than none.

Anyway, do you think I should re-post in the Website Analytics forum?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld!

You're in the right forum.

Re: clickthru rates. I am not aware of any data and I believe you won't find any. There may be some out there but I'd seriously question it's worth. Any of these sites will likely keep that information closely guarded. What you can do is to ask one of these sites for a trial run with stats before you commit.
