Looking for a uk equivalent of ccnow

My new site is nearly complete and i had decided to go with ccnow, to process the card payments (no merchant account). Since then they have introduced a monthly fee, for promotion of all things. Now i dont really mind the monthly fee, but i do want to be able to display my prices in pounds.

Does any one know of a uk alternative to ccnow?
Or am i stuck with dollars?

ther are a few options you can use, depending what industry you are in, i know a very good international company which trades in £££s and also pays you in £££s.

both WorldPay and Netbanx will accept you as a merchant without needing a bank merchant account.

Checked them out, netbanx is no good cos i have about a hundred products. World pay is pricey too for 100 products.
Seems there is a gap in the market for us UK'ers.
Anyone else got any suggestions?

I was in the same boat as you, smatsmax, I looked everywhere, checked out all I could find and finally settled for ccnow. Have been with them for nearly two years now and very happy with their service.

There just does not seem to be anything comparable in the UK.

Do you only display your products in dollars then?
Do you have to change prices often with the exchange rate or do you allow for the minor rate changes when pricing?
I want to display prices in dollars and pounds, how do i keep on top of changing exchange rates? or do you find that the differences are negligible?
Problem is we have existing uk mail order customers, i dont really want to force them to pay in dollars only.
Think i'll end up giving the customer the choice between ccnow for international credit cards, nochex for debit cards and snail mail.
If anyone wants to set up a ccnow style provider in the uk, reckon it would be worth it.

i think you need to get your calculator out and look again, but this time, look beyond the sign up fees. ccnow charge a massive 11% for non US customers, worldpay is 4.5%.

for every payment processor you look at, work out how much it will cost you per year for say 100 transactions per month at $10 each or £10 each or whatever, THEN decide which one is pricey.

I was shying away from World pay cos my original choice ccnow provided a shopping cart, so i designed the site without one.
Just trying to keep it simple, but looks like World pay is the way to go. Thanks CF

Here [webmasterworld.com] is a recent thread on the near-impossibility of pinning down a "best" e-comm solution. There is a lot of good info on various packages around the board, a lot of it in this forum.

The package that is right for you will depend on a great many variables (about half of which won't become apparent until you've already commited to something :()

I decided that World pay and a simple shopping cart would be the ideal solution, but having spent good money on hosting this site we cannot yet afford it (site is for friends business). I know it would save and make us money, but for the time being i am going to have to settle for pay pal (uggghhh). Hopefully we can sell enough to invest in world pay soon.

*if* that happens, it'll probably take a long time. in the meantime you could be losing out on a lot of potential income.

if you don't have the money, borrow it. friends, family, bank. we're not talking huge sums, just a couple of hundred pounds.

I know it makes sense.
I'll show this thread to my friend whose site it is, maybe it will persuade her even if i cant.
