Overstock Sues New York over Internet Tax Law

Following the enactment of a new New York State tax law [webmasterworld.com], with Overstock dropping their N.Y. based affiliates from their program, they've followed suit with Amazon's legal action and filed a suit against N.Y. State on Friday.

Overstock.com has filed a lawsuit challenging a New York law that expands the state's requirements for online retailers to collect sales taxes.

The Utah-based company announced Friday that it is asking the court to issue an injunction and declare the law unconstitutional.

Glad to see big companies like Overstock and Amazon challenging this, seems like it would've make more sense to join in a single suit.

I think all residents of NY should join the lawsuit too since they are the people who will ultimately be paying for this.

We already do. Amazon has started charging NY residents sales tax.
