Mal's E vs Paypal

I've got a site that sells a couple of items...not very often I might add.

Currently, I've set up the "buy now" buttons with Mal's E which eventually takes the user to paypal. So what's the advantage of using mal's E when i can simply create paypal "buy now" buttons? I can skip the whole mal's e section.

So I guess my questions is is there any advantage to using mal's E over paypal for a small shopping site?

No and using the extra click may cost you more customers than you know. Get rid of them now and do your own button sending the order paypal.

After you have dropped Mal'E let us know if the orders increase my bet is they will.

As I understand it Mal's Ecommerce is an excellent service. the problem is that you did not recognise that there was no need for an online shopping cart.

I would agree that you should remove it.

So when would there be a need for Mals-E?

You would perhaps need this when you were selling a range of products or categories and where purchasers may want to buy several items. It could also be used where options for purchase (sizes, colours, shipping rates, etc.) need to be selected.

When you decide to upgrade to your own merchant account and want to collect secure payment info from the customer.

Mals is fine I use it on some of my sites, however I found sales increased when I dropped MALS in favour of a cart linked to my payment processor - fewer clicks to checkout etc.

I have also come across teh teh odd situ where by people place and order with Mals cart (fairly large orders) then fail to pay, I suspect this is in hope of the order being shipped and the missing card payment not being noticed.

Thanks for the help. I think i'll stick with PayPal until my sales increase.
