How to sell more in the fierced price competition?

My category is electronics and the competition is fierced in this category, because lots of companies sell same stuff, cutting price seems to be the best solution to attract customers. My site has good search engine rank and some product pages rank high in Google (at the 1st page), but the sales volume is not so high, probably because my price is not so cheap. My site's target market is middle-end user, so my price is higher than those budget sites but still cheaper than many other companies'. Sometimes, I wonder how those guys are able to sell since they have hefty prices for same products as mine. Just want to share with you to get suggestions to improve sales without cutting the price.

Price is not everything. Look for almost any item and someplace you will find it price at near cost. Yet hundreds of their competitors are still in business.

Look at your competition, look for anything you consider a turn off - like ugly graphics, poor descriptions, bad layout, bad return and/or warranty policies, etc. etc.

Then do the opposite of what they do.

Offer free delivery special days/weekends?

Special offers or 'free' delivery, items etc work well, espically in advertising.

Offer mail in rebates. By doing so your price appears much lower than the competition, but in reality only a small fraction of the rebates are ever redeemed.

You may try by adjusting the shipping costs. Either raise the product price and provide free shipping, or lower the product price but raise the shipping cost.

We have learnt that popular products probably have a lot of price competition. Unless you can get bulk rate and have a lot of traffic, you can try the low margin high volumn method. But this is usually not advisable because everyone lose out in the long run.

What we have done is to offer different products and free shipping with it. We have found out that customers are attracted by free shipping. The trick is to get them to buy the free shipping items and have them add on other items with it. Does anyone has some comments on this?

The FREE SHIPPING (on over priced items) works well. As long as they are adding 2 or more items to the cart. If it's a one time deal you may lose on that one, but you will gain more orders in the long run and eventually the items per order ratio starts to rise.
