I have received and order and im not to sure what to do with it.

Its low vale under $80 but the item can be resold quickly, my main concern is that once paid for he asked the credit card processor to ship it to another address, not the Card address.

Ive held the order for 3 weeks and have not heard a peep from him, which in its self is odd, you hold and order back and people are screaming for it.

Fraud or not ?

I agree with KF
I've had it in the past when I received orders that smelled funny and ignored them then that's the end of it.

I have ignored one myself, but issued a refund a month or so after the order was placed.

Habtom, you're right. I should have specified that at the time of the order there was no money involved, it was work on commission.

I would steer clear of this one.

This is an easy check all you need to do is call the customers number make sure it is a good number then verify the number at his bank (you can get this information from your proceessor as to the cards issuing bank)and it is a go. We get these all the time children at college parents buying them some protein or vitamins and having it shipped to their dorm.

Doesn't take 5 minutes to verify and most likely you have lost a customer.

ever thought it might be a gift suprise or something like that.

I agree with bwnbwn, it didn't seem very fraudulent to me "out of the box". I tend to get orders from students, teachers, people over seas or people working away from home and that would be a lot of business to refuse.

as far as asking the credit card processor to ship to a different address - what do you mean by that statement?

I would be very wary and do some in depth checking. Do you record IP addresses? If so - check up on it. Also, if it's being shipped to another address, that is often fine... but things get iffy if it's international, etc.

Check out the delivery address is it a business address. If it is its less likely to be fraud. Also is the alternate address in the same town? What about the customers email address? Is it a generic free services such as hotmail or yahoo or is it a legit company email? If its a legit email its less likely to be fraud? Did the customer leave you a mobile number or a land line? Give it a call if its a mobile just ask the customer for confirmation of billing address. 3 weeks later and you will have caught him off guard and will be able to tellif its genuine or not. Also i would consider getting 3dsecure implemented on your site as this can give addition checks on security and can pass liability for fraud back to your bank.

Your red flags have been triggered, go with them. Refund the credit card payment and ask for a money order.

What credit card processor did he call to ship it to another address? Why wouldn't he contact you instead?
