Google Checkout's "estimated tax"

can I get rid of it?

Hi, whenever users make purchases with Google Checkout, Google adds an additional "estimated tax" to the order. 99% of the orders aren't coming from inside my state, so this tax doesn't even apply.

I'm scared that this estimated tax is scaring off a lot of potential buyers. Does anyone know how to turn it off (and just apply tax to orders made from my state)?

I'm not sure how that's turned off, but yes, it would scare off a buyer.

I've been searching for a few days now and still no luck.

I sell "widgets" that have a high value, and for a buyer to see $150.00 estimated sales tax even if they live in the middle of nowhere, many are definitely taking their business elsewhere.

No one has an idea?

I assume you have had to set up a Tax in google in the setting section for your state correct?

If this is the case you need to contact Google on this fix asthe checkout must not capture the persons State until the address is added per state.

This should be an easy fix for them to add some text to the checkout were the states you select shows this estimated tax will be added if you live in this state.

this is googles fix there isn't a way for you to cut if off unless you cut off all states. This will be a temp fix and if the ship is in a tax state then you can call them and explain and get the card to process the tax charge or cancel the order and send Google as to the reason for the cancel.

Cutting off all Tax States is not what you want to hear but I would suspect it would increase the out of state orders more than losing the in state orders as I would bail if I saw the estimated tax and lived in another state.
