Will any ecommerce package cope with 50,000 products?

I have a potential client (second-hand bookseller) who is currently using a bespoke ecommerce site and wants to transfer to an off-the-shelf package. He has 50,000 books. Are there any packages that could handle that number of individual products?

Thanks!

Bob.

I suppose 50K products is not extraordinary big number, and most more or less professional e-commerce packages should be able to handle this.

Any database storage system can handle this, but what you should look at is the design functionality.

For example, original osCommerce in many cases tries to show the entire list of products in a single drop-down box. Clearly, you wouldn't be happy waiting for the html-page with 50K products to load, then trying to scroll down the 50K list to locate a single product!

I would recommend Ingenuity ecommerce platform to anyone in a heartbeat. Its not cheap, but for 50k skus it will manage that without skipping a beat and then give you every other feature and then some. Feel free to PM me for how we have used it and our success story.
