Did some searching here for info on the Amazon WebStore service, but no recent posts turned up.

Anyone here have any experience using "WebStore by Amazon"?

I'm looking for pros vs cons and how it compares with setting up an online store using either open source solutions or other fee based competitors.

TIA -- Eugene

Amazon have their own extensive set of forums, its probably worth going there. Go through the associates.amazon.com/.co.uk/wherever page.

We are using WebStores for some new domains. We started them 6 months ago and they are covering their costs right now. As time goes on I expect them to be profitable. Like any ecommerce operation it takes time to draw traffic and refine the sites.

It takes a lot of work to design them so they dont look like a "cookie cutter" website. The only thing you dont have to worry about is the shopping cart.

At this point I would say its going to be worth it.
