Hi Guys,

I know this has been done to death but I am in an industry specific e-commerce. My target audience is commercial customers, not retail customers.

I live in a small town, about 120,000 people. Tourism is a major industry here and we have plenty of restaurants. My website caters for these restaurants. ie I supply them kitchenwares.

I have just finished my website and I am trying to figure out how to draw traffic to my site. I am thinking of doing:

a. send flyers to ever restaurant and tell them about my web site. Perhaps do a mail out at the beginning of each month. Say 100 restauarnts and 80 cents each, $80 a month.

b. Also put advertisement in the newspaper, say twice a week? This cost me $81 per week.

What do you think? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The local print advertising you propose will reach far less than 1% of U.S. commercial kitchenware buyers. Trivial.

This cost me $81 per week

Use that effort and fairly significant money for SEO or PPC ads. And don't overlook the consumer market for high quality kitchen products.

Opps, I should clarify, I am not in the us. In our small town, there is only one newspaper company. So the coverge would be quiet good but the question is how many readers would convert into buyers?

If I get 0.5%, I would be happy.

At that cost it has to be worth a punt. At lot of times with advertising you have to suck it and see. Just make sure you can track exactly where the sales come from so you can calculate your ROI. I usually use a special offer with a code, simple yet effective.
