In my company we run an eCommerce store where we provide religious dvd lectures for download. Our downloads are unique as we own the copyrights to the products and all our resellers may not provide downloads but only sell our DVDs as physical dvds.

Sales are great with regards to how much traffic our website receives, and SEO has ranked us on first page for the majority of our dvd titles. Our prices are below half the price of our physical dvds, and due to ease of downloading versus buying a physical dvd and waiting for shipping, etc, the store is running well. This is also confirmed in that 75% of our customers come back and buy more lectures within the week.

Now have been trying to advertise on other religious websites that deal with the same religion with no success. We have targeted 4 of the largest forums on the internet with that religion for 1 month , with no success. We got loads of traffic, but not a single sale.

The 4 forums cover the entire (mostly) world: USA + Europe + asia.

So forums have been a flop for us. Now we are a but uncertain on what is next.

Should we try:
- advertising in other commerce stores (i beleive this will be very difficult to pull through)
- religious "info" sites
- adwords (didnt work for us in the past)

Suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Might be worth researching your target audience; are they ready for your product, or would you do better putting more emphasis into DVDs on your site too?

The audience is ready, but I think the reason our advertisement is not converting is due to us targetting forums. Forum members are not interested in buying stuff, they are there to "chat".

Don't forget about printed magazines.

As well as paid ads make up a press pack and send out some review copies.

A press release would give you a good kick start I guess. You might also want to consider using brochures, flyers and other means of printed advertising.

Forums are tough. I'd look at ads on religious info sites if you can find one or more that are a good match.
