Due to lots of other projects going on, I backburnered this issue but was only recently told that we're paying a monthly fee for this service, plus they want to start selling more actual products related to our organization, so I need to hurry up and integrate the direct credit card payments on our site already. So I've been trying desperately to find a free shopping cart, preferably PHP-based since that's what I'm used to, that doesn't redirect to somewhere offsite, and that does NOT require customers to register and log in when they want to donate or purchase something from us. I've been downloading and playing with all sorts of options, including:
* OsCommerce (maybe I'm just frustrated but it seems to be a little bit too much for me to customize; they have a module for "purchase without account" but there doesn't seem to be a simple way to let people choose an amount they want to donate);
* CubeCart (the free version has mandatory customer registration; there's a mod to this, but the mod's not free);
* AgoraCart (again, there doesn't seem to be a simple way to donate);
* E-Junkie (This simple little gizmo would probably be ideal, but their "free to non-profits" version is limited to 20 items, and they don't support Authorize.net test mode which is what I'm using until I know I'm good to go);
* Mal's (free version doesn't work with Authorize.net)
* Zen-Cart (insists that customers register)
And a few others I'm probably forgetting. I'm looking at VirtueMart right now (read: installing Joomla and hoping that all the stuff in their forums about "silent registration" means that customers really won't have to register) but my brain is pretty much fried at this point. Can anybody point me to something that meets all the guidelines I've been saddled with?
It really has to be free or at least mind-bogglingly cheap -- the Bosses are not going to part with funds for a shopping cart if there is any way to humanly avoid it; it has to work with Authorize.net; I'd prefer it to be PHP-based for my own sanity; it would ideally have a way for people to "donate" (customer enters the amount they want to give) like you can with PayPal; and it really has to let people just give their credit card info without having to register an account and log in when they want to donate/buy. Yes, I know. No, really, I know. But I'm not being listened to on that front, no matter what.
I understand there will probably be a lot of "Stick with PayPal" suggestions, and I realize I may be forced to give that answer to my supervisors, but I'd really hope there's something out there that I'm missing that will do what they want. Suggestions toward that end?
