Best selling item or item you would like to sell the most of?

Which to feature on website?

This is my question:

Should I feature my best selling product prominently or the item I would like to sell the most of (with the most profit margin)?

Thanks,

Why not both? You have a full page to do it with. Play one of them up as your
premier product and one of the as your semi price leader. You have to mess around with it a little bit to get the right look and feel...KF

This is why Google's website optimizer is a beautiful thing - run a multivariate test with a few permutations - different pictures, different products, different captions, and see which one works the best!

For example, I had one product that came in 5 different colors/styles, and I allowed people to select which color/style they preferred once they were customizing and adding it to the cart.

Tried a website optimizer test on it, and found that showing all five variations at once worked much better than allowing the customer to pick a variation after clicking on the item. Conversions shot up over 300% for that item (from 2.8% to over 9%).

Test, test, test.
