I have a business I have been selling my products on ebay for 3 years, recently, they suspended me from a completely unknown and thus far unexplaned reason. I have been trying to build a an ecommerce site over the last 2 years and just have no time to put into it, so I have finally bit the bullet and I am having a site built for me, more on that later. My question is, I have about 100,000 items that are the same but unique in that they are personalized with peoples names. On ebay I was selling about 40-70 items a day with some success, but man oh man, I was giving them about $6000-$7000 a month. So, my question is, what should or possibly can, $6,000-$7,000 in advertising, web costs, marketing etc get me per month in sales. My items are are very high quality and low cost($10-$15) and they offer a very unique gift at low cost for that hard to buy for person. The great thing is I generally sell more than one item to each buyer, at least on ebay I did. I am very new at this so any help with this would be nise. Could my sales get to 200-300 items per day with this same ebay budget? Any marketing ideas and such would be appreciated. This is my first post.

Thanks
Jay

I don't think you're going to be able to get a qualified answer here, your question is far too specific to your situation.

depending on your competition and your conversion rate on your site you can either do really well or really bad on 6000 - 7000 grand a month in advertising. you’re just going to have to jump in the pool to test the water.

on another note, you need to find out why you were removed from eBay. chances are that if eBay didn’t like what you were doing Google won't either.

good luck

I will tell you this more you were getting off ebay. 6 to 7 thousand a month will get you about 1000 hits from the ppc engines

Keep reading and working the website and you will do really good.

The post above mine is something you really need to find the root cause.

Complaints, chargebacks, bad shipping something had to be an on going cause to lose that kind of store.

Thanks for info. As for my ebay situation, my account is being associated with another suspended account with is basically a bunch of bull. I am so tired of battling ebays crap. IT offers a great opportunity but over the last 3 years I have spent more time over coming ebay crap than running my business. I would rather put that energy towards my own site and hope it works

Trust me I understand. You will do well then get the site rocking and don't look back.

Get a good hosting Co, cart, secure cert, and set the site up right. You should be able to get a good site up and running quickly, maybe a month or so just depends on how much you want loaded before you lanch the site.

Make sure the site is set up with friendy URL's and all keyworded if possible.

Man it would be nice to know what I know now when I set up my site 5 years ago.

If you don't know much about SEO and other related stuff read as much as you can so when your site is designed you don't get caught in a bunch of java script links pretty stuff that will never get indexed flash etc.

Read study and make sure the site works before you get any of it indexed.

Have them disallow all bots in the robots.txt don't let the site get indexed by accident.

This is a few things to look over as I said read and study before you make the final decision on the cms, url rewite, navagation.

When you get there put it up for review here make sure you have reviewed some as well before asking on your new launch.

Good place to be in December is Vegas PubCon.
