Too many CVV2s being rejected.

What percentage of your sales are rejected by your gateway for CVV2?

Every day I lose sales because my gateway rejects some customers' CVV2s. When we're lucky enough to talk to the customer on the phone, the customer insists that the CVV2 is correct, and they are able to use it on other sites. Sure enough, when we manually run the charge using only AVS, the charge goes through -- and none have been fraudulent.

We use CVV2 because too many zip codes (especially for international orders) were being rejected.

Do you have the same problem? Or do you think that our gateway just has a lousy database?

Don't know which gateway you use but you should be able to turn off CV rejection in the AVS setup. The generated receipt you receive should still show whether the CV matched or not.

Thanks, dartman.
My gateway makes me use CVV or AVS, and I find that each one generates too many false rejections. (But perhaps somewhat fewer rejections with CVV).

You should be able to set options for both CV and AVS. Are you using authorize.net?
The only AVS codes we reject are G and N. We don't reject any CV codes. We only ship on AVS codes Y and X but will ship on Z for amounts less than $100. We feel this scenario gives us good protection and have had only 1 chargeback in 3 years (and it was bs).
You might look at your cart setup as it may be the problem rather then the gateway.
