I am about to get a business license for a service business I am starting in a month or two. My question is this, I plan on doing most of my business in Maryland but at the same time I will also do some of it in New Jersey. Does this mean I have to get a business license in Maryland and New Jersey or could I get a business license in Maryland (which is my main residence). I am also interested in getting an llc as well. Does this come after purchasing the business license or should I go for the LLC right away. Thank you in advance.

Most of us who have a business license only have it in the town or city where
our business is. In California there is no state business license. Probaly the majority of online busness dont have a license at all. The main thing is to file state sales tax. I do business in pretty much all the states, but only have a local businees license so I dont think you should worry about New Jersey.
As far as the llc you can start out as a proprietorship and inc at a later date...KF
