Do you want to display the non-secure items?

When you see that Security Warning dialog window pop up on your screen while browsing a website, what's the first thing you do?

And then what?

Would it stop you from making a purchase?

And then, what exactly happens when you select the "No" option for the "Do you want to display the non-secure items?" I spend a few minutes completing my information and click submit only to get an error.

I would usually View Source, find the Google Analytics script pointing to http...tut tut a couple of times and carry on but I would guess most people would back out.

It does not stop me, because I know what the problem is that is causing it. We had that coming up frequently on one of our sites and it took a while to fix it. I get that error message on google sometimes, I think in the webmaster area or the adwords.

Anyways, I think it is a very scary message for the average online shopper who does not understand what the message really means. I think it would stop lots of people from entering a credit card.

So fix it, it is really important not to have that error message on an ecommerce site.

I consider it more of a nuisance than anything else, especially in Google's help pages.

I have yet to run into it on an e-commerce site however I don't believe that error alone would stop me from making a purchase. It would certainly make me wonder why the site owner didn't bother to fix such a small problem and would keep me on the lookout for any other red flags.
