The ideal cart system

what features do you love to see?

I know everyone here is very active online and has used at least one cart system for sales or purchases at some point in the past few months. It doesn't matter what system you were using I'm sure at some point you said to yourself, "Hey that's a nice feature" or "If this was my site I would change ___".

What features have you seen in a cart system that you thought were great and what did you really hate?

when I can't see the shipping charges until after I enter my name and/or cc. Those sites lose my sale right away.

what about a system that remembers you and gives you your own login so you can see your history of purchases and incomplete orders?

What company's have you looked into for payment gateways and site security?

what I like, for catalog type sites, is a wish list. Nice not to have to search all over again next visit.

I just bought some memory from crucial.com and they have redesigned their cart since last time I bought something. I really like the sidebar during the checkout and style of buttons.

Crusher - I always tie into PayPal, I'm a huge fan because of the customer service they provide. I'm not looking to buy a system though, I have one that I wrote and I'm just trying to get some ideas of what people like to see since my users rarely give me any feedback, and I want to do some upgrades.

I just had my second purchace through Macromedia and they have a really nice system also. Plus they remember all of your previous order history, returns, etc. Very cool.

1. Estimate Shipping Costs
2. Use Phone to complete order
3. Seeing the product image of items already added
4. Being able to Save and name shopping carts
