I'm looking for a shopping cart that is easy to set up and full featured. I have little knowledge about shopping carts but have been told that if I have a product I want to sell on the web the easiest way to so this is to use a shopping cart.

Is this true or is the shopping cart just one part of the websiteI'll need?

any opinions would be appreciated

Oscommerce, its free powerful and easy to use.

Not overly friendly with the ole search engines though.

Sticky me and I can recommmend a good hosting - preinstallation firm - No connection to me.

I agree with osCommerce. I don't know what your knowledge of PHP is, but it helps with any of the carts. With osCommerce it really helps to be able to go inside the code and make slight changes to help adapt the program to your business. Luckily there is a good amount of support on the osC forum to help you get started.

You can take a look at the sign in my profile to see my osCommerce site.

osCommerce is not friendly to people with sparse web design skills, or people that like WYSIWYG web design tools, ever try to load up an osCommerce web page in FrontPage2000? Oh my....

Since you're a novice, I'd suggest sticking to carts the ISPs readily support (some come with the hosting account) like Miva, or use Yahoo Store, Monster Commerce, etc.

I would look at x-cart and litecommerce, as well as cubecart
