Hello All

Does having the same biz name but utlizing both .com and .net have any negative effects on your online business in regards to rankings?

I am creating an online business (widgets.com.) All content on this .com site is fresh and orginal.

However, I want to use a very good manufacturer to compiment my line of products. If I use their store front they will do all the customer service work including order etc...

My question is, if I have I link from my main website widget.com pointing to their store front using my business name but having it called widget.net instead of .com, will this effect my main website widget.com in any way? Particularly rankings?

I am guessing because they have different url addresses it will be OK.

Please Advise

Thanks!

I don't think you'll have any problem.

If I understand you correctly your main website will be widgets.com and the manufacturer's site will be at widgets.net. That shouldn't pose any problems as the DNs are different.

Caveat: possible influence to your ranking may come in the form of the outbound link (from you to them) leaking PR or sharing keywords (in effect competing against yourself for the same product name keywords).

OK One more for you.

If I own widgets.com and the business name is the same but the address is www.widgets.ccwidgets.com.

Would that still be considered a different address and not weighed towards my main site, even thought the business name is the same before the dot etc....
