Hey Guys,

I am fuming.... I started selling on amazon 3 days ago, i was getting ~3 sales a day (nothing major)... After the 3rd day i get an email saying that my account is blocked and my funds will be released after 90 days! The product is shipped and i am out that amount of money and they wont give me the money till 90 days later.

As far as i know i did nothing wrong, i shipped product within 24 hours and havent even gotten a single feedback yet (so it cant be that AZ Guarantee). I am baffeled and dont know what to do, they are holding about $500 dollars and they only leave me with a single email and no contact number.

This is bogus!

Anyone have experience with this, i would have expected better from a company the size of amazon. But, apparently not!

Advice on options would be appreciated.

> i get an email saying that my account is blocked

Due diligence: Are you absolutely sure the e-mail was actually from them -- Did you check the IP address ranges in the "detailed headers" of the e-mail message?

I get a dozen e-mails a day purporting to be from e-Bay and PayPal, and all of them are spoofs and phishing attempts. If you hover over the links in the messages (which look exactly like real e-Bay and PayPal messages), the links they want me to click on to "unlock my account" are always NOT a valid e-Bay or PayPal server.

Maybe you know all this already, but I'd hate to keep mum and see you ripped off...

The 90 days is to protect themselves against chargebacks.

I would guess either you broke their terms of service or somebody made a complaint direct to Amazon without contacting you to resolve the issue first. Could your products perhaps be classified in any way as "adult"?

You need to try and get a dialogue going with Amazon to see if it is something that can be resolved.

The email came from alliance@amazon.com

Yes my products could be classified as adult. I simply saw that Amazon listed something i was selling and there were no sellers and a button that says "sell your item here". So i listed my self as a seller and was on my merry way.... 3 days later i get that email, my sales frozen, my money blocked and a stone wall email and no way of getting in contact with anyone. Its really an assbackwards way of doing business!

Marcia,

allow me to clarify, not that kind of adult. NO, my products dont fall under any of those items listed in the prohibted items list, nothing pornographic or otherwise.

My products are adult in nature. Also, please note that i simply linked on a product already listed by amazon. I didnt create the listing, the listing was already there, i just offered to sell it. Thats what i dont understand. How could it be against rules, if amazon themselves listed it.....

.. getting ~3 sales a day ...

For a single product, I'd say that's spectacular.

I've got 80+ products listed on Amazon, and if I were selling ~3 a day, per product, I'd be doing backflips. What exactly are you selling?

Point is, that i have read places that once amazon feels like your doing good they yank the plug and block the seller and usually then end up selling it themselves or through one of their promotion partners (ie. big guys).

Isn't it written in the TOS someplace that they reserve the right to withhold funds for 90 days at their discretion, without reservation? Withholding funds for a period of time isn't abnormal, but that's a different thing altogether from blocking an account completely.

No they specifically state that my account is BLOCKED. My listings cancelled, any new orders were cancelled. In ADDITION my funds are going to be held for 90 days.

So, its not just about withholding funds. Its cancelling my sales listings as well as orders. Plus, they usually only hold your money for 2 weeks in the beginning.

Seems to me, the only option you have got is to wait. Battle against giants, it could cost you more.

AMAZON BLOWS! They are rip off artists. Same thing happened to me. They are the ones that have the photos. I listed by their photos, and they shut me down within a week. Now they are holding my money clear til September. I have done nothing wrong either. STEER CLEAR OF AMAZON!

Jscott,

That is exactly what happened to me. I just listed under their photo and their listing, then when i actually began to sell and make a profit, they turn around and ban me for life.

They are not good to their merchants at ALL!
