What would you do with $100K?

How would you spend $100K extra to improve your web marketing plan?

Recently, my boss came to me and inquired what I would do with and extra $100K in my web marketing budget. My first thought, "Hey, I like where this is going". After thinking about it a bit, I quickly became blinded by all the possibilites.

I figured I'd post the question to the great minds of webmaster world. So, what would you do with an extra $100K in your budget?

What area are you in makes a huge difference to give really good hits or help this information is a must.

Just your area ie health, ecommerce, legal business to business etc.

1- for starters- pay raise

Right now? Seriously? Buy Google stock. :)

Buy generic domain names related to your industry (although, depending on the industry, some might cost a lot more than $100,000, e.g. vodka.com sold for $3 million).

Without knowing anything about your business this will be hard for anyone to answer. At the bare minimum, what are you doing now? Big paid click campaigns? Direct mail or magazines (print)? Trade shows? Do you have your site search and recommendations perfected? SEO? Do you have a firm grasp on website analytics and a corrective action plan? Etc, etc, etc. Without knowing what you are doing now, it's hard to say what you are missing.

What marketing activity that you are doing now or have done in the past has been the most successful? What about a double down on that?

Sorry folks, this post was intended to encourage everyone to take a moment to daydream about how they would spend a chunk change to improve their E-Commerce website. A creative brainstorm if you will...

Does anyone know what's actually wrong with the website? If not, why not commission a comprehensive user survey to find out, then spend the rest of the money making the improvements.

First thing I'd do is take care of any and all pending issues from the database side of things. Is everything running the way it should? Are the GUIs just right?

Once all that has been addressed, what about new user features?

After that? The sky is the limit. $100k is a decent budget to work with and there will be much you can do. First we need to find out what's left to do with the site and then how much of that $100k is left for "spending".

You can hold off on the Google stock for now if you wish but a year from now you'll be kicking yourself in the butt for not buying. ;)

After getting back from Vegas, I'd hire myself as a consultant.

How about commissioning some videos to demonstrate your key selling products.
