I recently bid on two paintings, from the descriptions given thats what they sounded like.

However, they werent, they were overpriced prints on canvas a fact not made clear in the listing.

The buyer I suspect is used to this and attempted to get me to pay around 25% of the purchase peice so he wouldnt issue an unpaid strike.

Strike comes I appeal it.

Ebay reply with a canned response saying in effect 'speak to the vendor, we really dont want to know'

Incredible, no wonder bids per item vistors etc are dropping.

Any one know how I take this further with Ebay?

There's plenty of false feedback on Ebay. It's common knowledge that you may get substandard merchandise at an auction like that which is the equivalent to a flea market.

No use whining, it sucks, but there really is no recourse when you get used stuff at a flea market which turns out later to be bogus.
