Average Products Sales $ Online

What is the average value of an item sold online

I am starting a general 'virtual mall' shopping site. In order to work out my revenue, I need to know what the average product sales value would be; I have heard anecdotally that on e-bay the average sale could be between $3 and $10. Does anybody have any ideas? Also, I wonder what % of products listed on e-Bay actually sell?

The average of all online sales is a pretty useless number. What matters is your specific market. I'd say just start selling and you'll soon find your average sales.

For me, the average order is around $70. Some products are as low as 29 cents, and as high as $1000.

I guess you now need to know the average number of transactions a commerce site makes :)
