Those who are doing well may not be too forthcoming, to protect their niches.
I found this thread [webmasterworld.com] which is a bit old, but has numbers. Maybe someone else is willing to share more recent data?
We are getting 15% + CTR on Sponsored Listings.
Our conversion rate is 1/8 > 1/16 (depends on product)
I can safely say that Google Sponsored listings is by far the best investment I have ever made, and CPA are well below what it costs us via Overture etc etc.

If you bid high enough on Adwords Select, you may end up in the Premium Sponsored area.
I know there are a couple posts in here somewhere about the subject.
In my case the #1 bid on Adwords Select was at .13 cents. If I bid .14 to be #1, I am just on the top of the Adwords Select bidders on the right side of the Google screen. But, when I bid around .30 cents or higher, I suddenly appear as a Premium Sponsored Link.
Since Adwords Select automatically lowers your bid to .01 cent above the next bidder, I am still only paying .14 cents since the next guy is at .13 cents. You just have to watch what you are doing and make sure the guy below you doesn't raise his bid to one cent below yours forcing you to pay the .30 price.
Even if you did have to pay the higher price, it may possibly be cheaper than Premium Sponsorship.
