Shopping Cart That Prints Orders

I have a client (a florist) that is moving from an FTD storefront to a private site. What they would like is a shopping cart that would automatically print off order invoices. I am still pretty new to setting up shopping carts so I'm not sure who offers this.

Also, since my client is in a small town (and not open 24 hours or have 24 hour support), they are used to receiving orders overnight and not receiving them until morning. Is it possible to say, set a shopping cart up so that after a certain time, it prints orders off before it processes the payment?

I know that many can't actually answer these questions but if anyone knows of a few shopping carts that I can check out, I would appreciate it.

Hello all!
In my experience the most shopping carts solutions have order printing functionality. The same for ability to close the show for certain period of time. Also some solutions allows store admin to edit printing invoices from the shop interface.

I guess you should think on desired performance and e-commerce features.

Also all shopping carts I've delt with creates invoice only after successful reply from payment system.

Hi RedChair.

I use a 3rd party solution for my shopping cart. (It was in place when I got here, and it ain't broke, so I keep it.)

The cart offers everything you are asking for, and I suspect most of them do.

automatically print off order invoices

Upon order completion 2 things happen. The customer is presented with a printable order for their records. We are sent an email with a link to our copy - stored on a secure server. I click the link, login, and print my copy.

Is it possible to say, set a shopping cart up so that after a certain time, it prints orders off before it processes the payment?

Payments are processed when the order is placed. If you want to verify the order or payment beforehand, there is an option that we allow from our cart. The customer can submit the order without payment, and we receive the email as before. Then we contact the customer for payment info before processing the order. We call those potential orders. I prefer to receive pre-approved orders.

The solution I use may not be what you want IF automatically printing the order is a requirement. My cart requires a secure login to process and print. It's a extra step. The upside for me is never having to worry about cart maintenance, updates, or problems.

As a rule, we don't name name's here. If you are interested then sticky me and I'll pass along the name.

why not save on printing and time and money and have the orders printed AFTER the payment has been processed? AFAIK less risk that way - you don't want to accidentally send an order that hasn't been processed yet

as for printing, you can apparently set up Windows to automatically print emails as they are received - not done it myself though, not something i'd want to do, but could be useful for some people - try a google search for automatically printing from outlook or something like that

What their system does now is it prints the order first, then they can process the order. It's backwards to what they are used to so I know what everyone is saying about printing the orders after, which of course sounds logical. However they are used to getting orders overnight when they aren't in the store and then they process them in the morning. I have told them that they would just have to state it clearly on the order page that any orders sent after 5 pm will be processed but will not be sent out until the next morning. I just thought I would poke around though and see if there was anything like what they are used to.
