I have a customer who I am in the process of building an e-commerce site for and we're trying to build a simple domestic shipping calculation model for their items. My thought is to charge a base fee plus 50 cents per pound. That seems to match UPS Ground's calculations roughly. Does anyone have any thoughts or good models that works well for them?

Re: shipping calculations. Is there a particular reason you don't want to use the live rate quote feature of UPS or FEDEX or?
