Post Code/Zip Code address verification

I am just working through the justification to spend a lot of cash on implimenting a post code/zip code address verification system in my checkout (just enter post code and door number to auto fill the address). It is a high turnover site so just a small improvement in abandoned carts would easily pay for it, I am just struggling to work out how much of an improvement it would give.

Has anyone gone through this process that can give me an indication as to how successful/unsuccessful it was? Did it reduce your abandoned carts at the address entry stage? If it did, by how much?

Many thanks

I think you can do postal code to fill out city and state. UPS WorldShip does this for you. But you will find that the accuracy of data from UPS and USPS vary greatly. Of course, I am speaking for the 50-states in the USA, so I don't know about address validation for other location.

I don't see how you can get valid address information from just postal code and apartment number.

Apologies. I am looking at a global solution (well UK and US to start). In the UK door number and postal code is sufficient, in the US a partial street name is required.

I have already selected the solution to go with and have been very impressed with the results in testing. The one hurdle I have now is the cost justification. Anyone who has any numbers on how a system like this improves your abandoned cart rate would be very welcome to post.

Thanks

What exactly are you talking about here? Are you talking about a system where they type in 90210 and you automatically fill in Beverly Hills, CA for them?
