How long has the new button been up?

It's a glaring, bright, giant 114x20 pixel "button" now instead of the little green cart.

It was announced in the Google Checkout blog a few weeks ago: [googlecheckout.blogspot.com...]

Today [ 2007 Feb 13] we're updating the shopping cart with a better image

I think the $10 signup bonus is doing more to drive sales than any graphic change. Sure, its more eyecatching, but what motivates a buyer than a $10 discount on $10 or more before tax & shipping? ;)

It would sure improve click rates at the top 3 positions I'm sure, and who would want to be the only ad without one?

Unfortunately the button, and the feeling of Google's graphics in general, specifically the sppeding shopping cart, would look laughable on many sites which are not based on the usual cookie cutter format or background colors and which have a more somber, serious, and "high end" shopping tone to them.

"Sponsored links" above SERP still shows the small shopping cart icon. But if you are AdWords position 4 (first on right column), you get a very big Google Checkout graphic attached to your ad. I don't mind pay less for position 4 in this case. :)
