I am trying to figure out what the *best* type of 'Add To Cart' button to have.

Some sites like amazon etc. have these nice, bold, yellowish buttons that have a 3-dimensional look to them. The problem with an image for a button is that when you click on the button you don't get any feedback like a button should have.

Ebay on the other hand simply uses a default button which is more prominent on the web (although maybe not for 'add to cart' functionality.

Having though about it, i'm now learning towards using a default button with no styles.

Thoughts? Has anyone ever done a A/B test on this?

Get a colour wheel and use a contrasting but acceptable colour for your buttons

How about this?
<input type="submit" name="add_to_cart" value="Add to Cart" style="font: 15pt Verdana; background-color: #E89DAD">
Nice Red code button, using no images. If you want it bigger, make the font size 16 or 17 pt.
