Report: Predictions For UK Online Shoppers To Spend £40billion in 2007

Online shopping could quadruple and account for almost 40 percent of retail sales by 2020, a report predicted on Friday.

Based on current growth trends, Internet spend could rise to 40 billion pounds by the end of this year and hit a staggering 162 billion pounds in 13 years' time, according to research by independent price comparison service uSwitch.com.

That is expected to rise to 15 percent by the end of 2007 and 40 percent by 2020, according to the study, conducted with the Centre for Economics and Business Research and market research firm YouGov.
