I have a client who has oscommerce and needs the cvv for the cc (He will be entering CCs manually, not via a gateway. )

I looked through Webmasterworld and the oscommerce forums and didn't find what I needed.

Namely - I want to find out which is the best contribution to use. I saw a couple of them listed. I believe it should enable you to easily delete the cvv once you enter it manually for processing. some type of encryption of the cvv would be a plus.

My other concern is that even if you delete the cvv is it really safe? I know when you delete RECORDS they are only marked for deletion. Do I have to do anything extra with regard to sql such as a purge.

Thanks in advance..

Very dangerous grounds you are treading on there. The whole idea of using an online gateway is that it is _secure_ and you don't need to store/transmit any financial info over non-secure channels (email etc).
I would also strongly recommend against trying to encrypt the data - this is not something anyone less than an expert in the field should attempt.
Really, get your client to spring the $15 a month for a gateway and do the job properly!

Doesn't the gateway cost .10/transaction too? Not just the $15.00/month - for instance, authorizenet?
