X-cart upgrade issues

what's your experience with x-cart?

I recently paid the x-cart developers to upgrade my x-cart to a latest version (jump about 2 versions up). I am surprised and disappointed with the number of errors and what appear to be bugs with the upgraded version. The checkout function doesn't work the same, credit cards are not authorized anymore, AVS and fraud info is not dislayed nor processed, and labels show up where data or nothing at all should be. And after the upgrade, the speed has significantly deteriorated at times (even though in the recent past I paid for a custom modification to speed it up).

This upgrade made me wonder what issues other folks have run into with x-cart?

Let's keep this discussion objective and on topic please - no rants about x-cart nor "use blahblah cart instead" posts. Thanks.

Hello Neonrider,

That is why we always wait 10 days before upgrading our cart, and takes 5 minutes each night to search on the x-cart forum with "version x.xx" and see if there are any critical issues that pops up. After nothing major happens, we upgrade (by ourselves, well by me haha. Only guy that loves php and smarty). Afterall, if it is a critical security issue, you would have received Emails from them telling you to "upgrade or get ready to be hacked".

I believe the reason you upgraded because you needed the new functionality or to fix a glaring bug on the previous version, but for us we tend to stick to what works for us without any harm (similar to all other softwares that we use).
